Uwajimaya Village

Project Location

In Fall 2003, members of the UWRE Club enjoyed a tour of Uwajimaya Village. The tour was hosted by Bruce Lorig, a Principal of Lorig Associates, LLC. who developed the award-winning mixed-use project. The project is located in the International District near Downtown Seattle. The complex spans an entire block and features 176 apartments with a landscaped courtyard, which are above the Uwajimaya Asian grocery.

In addition to the tour of the property, Bruce discussed the project and the initial thinking behind his efforts to push the southern edge of the International District with a new development that was somewhat ahead of its time. Students toured both the retail and residential portions of the project and were able to quiz Bruce on his strategy and "lessons learned."
