Program Positioning and Planning

At the Runstad Center, we believe real estate is a distinct interdisciplinary, behavioral science. As such, we recognize the importance of developing a curriculum that provides students sufficient breadth of skills and depth of inquiry to help them embark on career paths that are both successful and sustainable. To that end, our program planning incorporates a holistic, life-cycle approach to real estate decision-making as presented in this exhibit.

UW Real Estate Program

As noted in the exhibit, real estate decision-making must draw on a number of distinct fields, each with its own professional designations and best practices. Although real estate professionals may focus on a particular area of concentration or specialization within the broader discipline, they must have a basic understanding of these related elements to make informed decisions. This understanding is necessary to ensure that decisions are fully thought out, with appropriate breadth and depth of inquiry.
