The UW's Interdisciplinary Real Estate Program is distinctive in a number of regards including:
- Unique Discipline: Argues real estate is a unique asset class and a distinct academic discipline.
- Interdisciplinary Field: Approaches real estate as an interdisciplinary field with special emphasis on fundamentals.
- Behavioral Science: Recognizes real estate is a behavioral science in which real estate transactions and activities are negotiated decisions made under conditions of uncertainty.
- Applied/Theoretical Orientation: Draws on a solid theoretical foundation that links real estate to its urban land economics roots and helps build a unique body of thought necessary to support applied decision-making.
- Sustainable Practices: Realizes the importance of developing sustainable business and professional practices that are necessary to long-term career success.
