Description

Overview. This course will provide an outlet that will allow students to draw on the core and elective courses to address a number of emerging trends and contemporary issues that real estate professionals will encounter. This course is designed to provide an opportunity to take an in-depth look at such phenomena and develop appropriate response programs that reflect the integration of their studies across campus. The topics in the course will vary, but may include such issues as the impacts and efficacy of growth management programs, the viability and sustainability of new development formats (e.g. mixed-use, lifestyle centers, transit-oriented development), and the emergence of new market opportunities or investment structures. The course may also explore the capital markets in general, as well as elements that affect real estate (e.g., global appetites and capital flows to domestic investment).

Positioning. This is a required capstone course that allows students to explore emerging trends and issues in the market that are best approached from a broad, interdisciplinary perspective.
